It seems the year is flying by. I stop to update the blog and get side tracked in my efforts!
Students have been working hard in class. This week we have Celebration of Learning and I am looking forward to opening the classroom up for everyone to see our hard work. Fifth Grade has been a learning experience for me as much as it has for them.
In my Reading and Writing class we completed a very fun project called "Secret Rules of Grownups". It has been exciting to read more of a make-believe story the students created. They will be on display this week.
Valentine's Day was fun as well. We enjoyed our pizza celebration with Mrs. Cassady and Mrs. Rodriquez's class. I didn't know that 5th graders could eat so much pizza! The treats were wonderful and I am always amazed at the generosity of parents to support their boys and girls.
We also made a nice collaborative poem on display in the hallway. The fifth grade version of "Love is". I giggled a tad, smiled a lot, and enjoyed the reflection of love in their point of view. I hope you take a moment to check it out. They wrote the sentences in the table groups and had to agree on the sentence. They really have become a collaborative group of workers.
Camp is coming our way as well. The forms went home as well as T-shirt order forms and rocket order forms. Both of those things are optional. Camp is a wonderful experience for everyone. I always enjoy seeing the students making new friends, outside of the comfort zone--getting muddy and hiking and laughing. Laughing. Laughing.
I hope that everyone stops by for Celebration of Learning and if I don't see you, then I hope you have a wonderful February break!!
