December has brought us with some sunny, cold days! Our classroom has been hopping as we prepared our Colonial Boston for the Story Path.
I have to interject here and say AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME! The detail and effort the students put into their "places of business" is amazing! I hope you notice the detail in the signs. The effort extended to their personal "colonial" biographies. They took the time to establish the characters to historical context and created a background that matched their colonial family in class. They also extended to include the "neighboring businesses" and friendships that were established on the wharf. In class presentations made me very impressed as they spoke clearly and effectively in front of their peers!
We finished our snowflake project this week. Wow. Popsicle sticks, glitter, and glue. Oh and paint. The classroom was a mess! they are beautiful and I am excited to display them somewhere in the building. The students really enjoy the art work and managed to be self directed when using the supplies. The sparkly floor we have somewhat belies that, but, they did! We cleaned up our messes!
The events that are coming about are the field trip next Friday to the Pacific Science Center and the Colonial Boston celebration on Monday. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to help out with making clam chowder and chaperoning!
I enjoyed conferencing with everyone and look forward to seeing you again soon!
Smiles,
Ms. McD
