This past week we have worked on ALL ABOUT ME posters. One section at the bottom has a place for students to express one "wish" that they have. As I demonstrated and modeled what the paper should look like, I wrote, "I hope all my children (Both at school and home) attend college." I thought that I was quite insightful to illicit deep thoughts for wishes from students.
Then I looked at the papers.
Then I looked at the definition of wish.
hope for; have a wish; "I wish I could go home now"
Then I thought about it in 2nd grade terms. (Something that Mom or Dad probably had said no to several times before)
Here are a few of the wishes....
I wish I could go to McDonald's everyday.
I wish I had a pet hamster.
I wish I lived at Disneyland.
I wish for a puppy that is a cockapoo.
I wish I had a hot tub.
I wish I had a baby sister. (Yes, yes, I am giggling over this one.)
I wish I could grow up and drive a bus because I would get to see everyone that likes school.
I wish I had a horse.
I wish I was a senior.
Ok, so those are some of the 2nd grade wishes. Yes, I am ending my day at school with a smile. :)
