Sometimes it is the little things that brings happines to 2nd graders. In our case, it is the water cooler. The novelty. The icy cold water. The ability to have a water bottle on your desk for a refreshing drink every 3 seconds. We have indeed found incentive for classrooms. The watercooler.
The first three days of school found us quite thirsty. We consumed 5 gallons of our 20 gallon monthly delivery. Yes, 5 gallons. This may also attribute to the frequent restroom trips our students have made.
As I look at the new bottle for today--Monday--I am a tad worried that we will be dehydrated by the end of the month. We are almost through with the 2nd container!
I think this is a learning moment for me! There must be parameters! Before the water fountain did not hold as much of an appeal. So, I think we will start a new---one fill up in the morning and one in the afternoon. That way it will eliminate the continued and constant sucking on the water bottles (which is also not allowed!) Hydrate, yes. Baby bottle, no.
I am now waiting for the gathering spot to become the water cooler. I might laugh a bit and take a picture if that really happens. :)
